firstly... the only problems to date are high idle (one very easy to change sensor or something), brake rotors, and front end bushings. possibly sub frame bushings, but i reckon i'm going to do something ghetto there pretty soon.

secondly, wow, that is one VERY expensive 30 HP.
it sounds like one should focus more on the rotating mass rather then the crank power though.
i would be shocked if i didn't see a nice difference in wheel power if i added a one piece drive shaft, lightened flywheel, and all new exhaust with headers.
what do you all think of that combo? will it give me a decent little amount of power?

that's what i figuired. thanks for taking the time to talk to me about this. i got kinda exited about the prospect of more power and i'm sure glad i didn't spend any money on it without researching.
but what is there to be wrong with that flywheel? you think that it wouldn't actually be the weight that they advertize? or that 12 lbs. isn't really much lighter then stock? or it might fly apart lol

i think that you get what you pay for, and no-name ebay parts have a track record of being crap.

much agreed. i just didn't think there was much to go wrong with a flywheel. i dunno. i'm kinda calming down on the idea now.

and do keep in mind that my goal has only ever been 20-40 more at the wheels. not the crank. i just used the crank figure as an example.

Hi, im new here, i have a 300zx na and i was wondering if the na engine is stronger enough to handle a big single turbo or if ill blow it up. If the power gain is worthless or the money invested really worth the mod.

thanks

sorry about my english, i'm french....

welcome to the forum.

you won't be able to run much boost, as the NA engine has high compression, 10.5:1 or so. turboing the NA motor is generally considered a poor option.

also, please use the search function before asking questions, as this topic has been covered many times. thanks.

not a big deal. we just try to keep the repeat questions to a minimum.

that's probably the best route, as a TT came from the factory ready to handle boost.

Hi, I recently found some one that might sell me a damaged 300zx tt but the frame is broken so i can't repair it but I though about maybe an engine swap and transmision ( mine is auto and the damaged car's transmition is manual ) or just take off the front clip of the damaged one and put it on my n/a. What do you think about it and why? thanks

(srry if it's a repost but i searched and didn't find anything)

probably the most common z32 question on here. do a little searching around. you'll want the front clip from the donor car, but it is not as simple as replacing one clip with the other. you'll have to remove the engines, do some wiring, some piping etc etc. and this swap is not an easy drop in and hook it up like hondas.

so how about cam shafts for the N/A? i did a search and found a lot of shaft sets for $900-1100 that said good for 450-600 HP cars. i'm guessing that since the 450 isn't attainable, these are all only good for turbos? any cams for the N/A?

thankyou! that did indeed answer my question. like i said, i got bored about half way through reading this sticky and probably just missed that. thanks though. so the quoted 375 HP N/A on youtube is probably bs then aye?

i'm still a little bit in denial that this car can't be upgraded at least enough to notice. it's coming to me though. i was thinking if i threw cams into my prior list, then i may make my goal. kinda just want to beat a stock TT by the time i'm done. and i don't mind if it takes a long time. but i am willing to accept defeat on this one. still researching it

Hey this is my 1st post and I just got my car about 3 months ago. I got a 90' 300zx. I cant afford to do a tt swap. but i do want it fast. I put in a Jwt pop charger and have the platinum bosch spark plugs. I need to put on a new exhaust system. So after that should I just put a 100hp shot of NOS in it? I can get it cheap so does that sound like the way to go.

1. Ditch the Bosch platinums. get NGKs.

2. Pop charger and exhaust will NOT make significant gains. MAYBE 10 hp.

3. you'll blow your engine up if you just toss a 100 shot of NOS on it.

fast is not cheap. period.
