N/A to TT... worth it?

I currently have a N/a 91 300zx... engine has had a few problems and all fixed by me. i got to thinking about doing a TT swap myself or taking to a shop but wanted to know if it was worth it to do a TT swap in this car or just sell it and buy a TT. i have always longed for the power and experiance of a turbo car and that time is coming. if any of you have done TT swaps let me know how it went and if you've encountered any problems because of the swap, or if i should just sell the car and swap an NA tranny into a TT. Thanks.

if you have the money time and space to do it, it shouldnt be too difficult, the problem with buying a TT in CA is that a decent stock one that isnt horribly over priced or heavily modified is pretty hard to find now days, their was a green TT in the OC for sale, but it was a 96..

yeah the reason i chose to go with a N/A was because it was garaged and well taken care of compared to most, and being that i bought it for only 3k was great. its a daily driver but i wanna make a nice all around car, not looking to race at the track and make it a 10 second car, but i've always wanted a turbo car . all the TT's i've seen are either over priced, or just driven to nothing

Have you done any other motor swaps before? VG30DE to VG30DETT swap definitely isn't for beginners.

other than domestic swaps (muscle cars etc) havent gotten myself into this kind of swap, i know that this swap is definatly complicated with the new wire harness and everything. definatly something that will take alot of time but may teach me alot if i decide to try to do this.

I would skip the driveshaft as gains are minimal, after that there really isn't much that you can do for the NA except headers/nos/ecu..

NOS is the way to go if your engine doesn't have a lot of miles, either that or do a TT swap

John, I had my aluminum drive line in my 92 Z 2+2 and let me tell you. First two gears are really noticeble especialy the first gear. Car react to throttle much quicker. I hopped a few S2000 of the line. Jumped em good.

(motor stock - Alum driveline, stage two act clutch.) Silly thing was that, I didnt know you have stiffen up your tranny mount (or get a new NISMO) mount) With out that mount, I couldnt go pass 120 my whole car was shakkin.. ahaha

I got this 90 2 seater, and im gona do it again. This time my set up gona be

1) Alumin subframe bushings (since my previous z was doing wheel hopping because of stupid subframe bushings).

2) Alumin. Drive line and SGP Alumin. Tranny mount.

3) Stage III Clutch and short shifter..

The reaction of the line and mid speed corners on streeett.. AWSOME.. BE in complete control, but people on outside will think your insane..

So let me get this straight.....of all the mods that are out there for an N/A, the first ones you would choose to do would be aluminum subframe bushings, then an aluminum driveshaft, then a stage 3 clutch; which I'm sure is to harness the massive HP gains you get from the aluminum DS.

Did you not comprehend the rest of this thread?

Do yourself a favor.....sell the N/A and buy a TT. Don't bother with the swap.

lol I sprayed my 90 NA with 105k on the dial and it took it like a champ.. but agreed, no better power adder than nitorus...

that post you replied to is from 2001. and there are better, as well as safer, ways to add power than nitrous

like? nitrous is just like any other mod you do, how safe it is depends on who and how they installed it.

well i've read through now 16 pages of this thread. i'm giving up and asking for a favor... does it ever get to talk about upgrades to the N/A, or is it a thread on the TT swap? all i have seen is a few posts on the first page about the N/A and then the TT swap repeated 10 times.

lol. that seems to be the direct way. but i'm looking to pick up at least a somewhat noiceable amount of wheel power for a few hundred. maybe flywheel, driveshaft, exhaust, headers, and intake. MAYBE. might do without the intake if anything, but maybe without any of it. i'm looking for about 20-40 HP in bolt on upgrades. i saw in the beginning of this thread that a N/A could theoretically attain 300 or something, so 250 crank is not that rediculous
