I'm laughing at the irony of Hoov's last posts. Let us know how that 5 speed swap goes.

Nah, having a beater isn't something that I'm prepared to do... I'm not buying the Z as a weekend and track car, it's going to be my daily driver, as well. And, gas prices? I know them all too well - right now I'm driving an F150 XLT with a 5.4 Liter V8, and I spend well over 100 dollars a week in gas. At least the Z will give me a break on that, if anything. The problem is finding a 300ZX that has little miles on it... All of them have been beaten to ****. Right now, I'm looking at one in Rhode Island, with "11,000" miles on it, but it scares me.

Take a look at the listing, and look at the picture of the odometer. Tell me what you guys think.

57 clutches, 92 springs, 84 steel ball bearings, 21 check valves, and about 30 gallons of ATF that all go BOING in different directions when you take it apart.

Warning, Warning!! Either the guy doesn't know how to take a picture of an odometer, or it's been tampered with. Take a closer look when you test drive it. I think he's price is high for sure, but you decide. Good luck.

yeah, that looks fishy

from that angle it looks like its been rolled, the seats look BRAND new, also the airbag (passenger side) looks off color in the picture, I'd run a carfax and see the last time it was registered and what milage it was registered at. If it comes back with 1 or 2 owners and only like 3-6-9k milage on it while it was registerd its probably real. You should also be able to see if its been in the shop at least a legal shop, anytime airbags are deployed, and replaced the repair HAS to be entered into a database that will show up on Carfax

hmm, it does seem suspect. and is it just me, or does that not look like an 11,000 mile engine... i am referring specifically to the timing cover (picture right) and the balance tube. also, the plenum seems like it was fairly dirty at one time and has been cleaned. tough to tell from the pic, but the engine in my 100,000 mile car seems a bit cleaner.

Well my engine gets pretty dirty as well, mostly because I had close encounter with a bucket on the HW and it ripped my splash guard off... And I have seen alot of z's without 'em. So maybe that person doesn't have one on because of underbody damage. So I would ask for undercarraige shots.
