Legal question:
Is it legal to run a car on the street with no dash? Just get a roll cage and mount your guages on the front cross bar?

yeah why not? its kinda stupid though. go get some aluminum sheet metal and at least give yourself a nice rectangular "dash" to mount the guages in plus it will be safer and you wont look like a tard

is it illegal to run your car with half the exhaust taken off? (im thinking about taking off the muffler and just leaving the exhaust half cut off) cause there is only a exhaust clamp holding the muffler and 3 ft of pipe to the exhaust.

that would depend on the noise level and weather or not your state does emmissions checks. I ran it without any muffler or pipe, and i had a cop friend of mine tell me she was amazed i hadn't been stopped yet.

The sheetmetal dash was my next idea, but i don't see how it would make a difference in safety to have a dash. Lookin like a tard, maybe, but i'm not out for pretty right now.

you have ALL the wires exposed and sharp metal bars as well instead of a blunt surface.

That doesnt mean that you cant wrap the wiring harness in some sort of padded material, or line the inside of the dash with foam or something.

w/e dude, im just saying wwhy you should, and plus you would have to get roll cage typ foam for it to actaully be impact absorbing and im sure that would be the same price as getting a thin piece of sheet metal and then cutting it up and welding it in youself. for a cleaner race look instead of driving around in the insane asylum car (cause the walls are all padded there)

hahaha the old hammer and chisel for the insulation?? I JUST got done doing the front end (rear seats included) tonight!! It took FOREVER but a cat's claw and a hammer and I just finished the front! I didn't want to take off the dash, but I'll see if I can show you tomorrow or something. I plan on grinding down to bare metal for some rust inspection and stuff, during the week but it's SO hard to get off!!

If they are +30 your going to need 30mm spacers to keep them from hitting the springs. Your wheel studs are to short for that.

they don't hit my springs on the front but it is REALLY tight. i can't fit my little finger between the spring and the tire. Know of anyone that sells 4 hold spacers and lug kits? And i'll start working on a sound clip.

as for the where the front is, i didn't like it all that much, and i kept having to take it off to paint anyway, so i just left it off. And i didn't have to pull the dash out to finish getting all that tar and stuff, but if you don't pull the dash, be prepared to leave a fair amount of flesh hanging on sharp edges and stuff.

Uh, thats why they have spacers with built in studs noob. There are tons of ebay stores that have them. Usually they are around $80 + shipping a pair.

Like so..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4x114...spagenameZWDVW

Someone told me there are spacers out there that are 4 lug in and 5 lug out. I havent been able to find them, but that would be cool to do. Then you could slap some 350z wheels on there or something.

Those aren't called spacers... they are called ADAPTERS.... n00b. RodMoyes would slap you for that one.

Spacers = thin metal w/ holes to move the wheel out.
Adapters = larger metal plates w/ studs pressed / built in.
