Repairing Lady. (74 260z)
okay. I got the dash lights wired in. so when i turn on the head lights the guages light up too. Got the turn signal indicators wired up. they both work beautifully. got the high beam indicator wired in but i hit a problem. The high beam indicator stays on when i switch to low beams. any of you wiring guru's out there ever have this problem? i'm gonna dig on it some more tomorrow but i'm outta daylight today.
well, i got the steel measured and cut for the fuel cell. mocked it up and set it in. Looks beautimuss. gonna get it welded next chance i get. which only god knows when that'll be.
wow. feels like its been a really long time since i last posted here. had trouble finding lady's repair thread. shoot.
but anyway. i've worked out my wiring issues. everything works now. exc wipers. for some reason i'm dodging that task like the plague. and of course, fuel cell is still not welded. battery has been transferred to a battery box in the passneger floor pan. all the wires have been ran and all guages are hooked up. still need to calibrate the speedo but everything else is golden. body work is a duh, still needs a **** ton, but Lady is begining to turn into quite the rat-z. rust and bare metal etc....without being structurally unsound. i actually kinda like the look. its cheap and its cool. now if i could just quit buying stuff for her. bunches of lil purchases add up quick.
got a couple of nifty ideas for connections flying around but i'll post them up after i've tested them out and made sure they work. till then, time marches on and the wrenches keep turnin.

dropped the cell and square tubing off at Abel Racing. their gonna weld the cradle up for me. Wanted to do it myself, but hey, **** it. i'm tired of just looking at her being pretty in the parkin spot
not really sure myself. i just know i crammed a screwdriver where the fuses kept burnin up, turned on the lights and started pullin the marker lights. when i got to the front marker lights and backed the screws out, it started throwing sparks, then the lights all came back on. i put the screw back in place just to check, threw sparks, lights went off. pulled it back out, sparks, lights came on. that was good enough to be called solved to me. *shrugs* the old faulty wiring has since become a thing of the past. along with the entire wiring harness. replaced with EZ wiring kit. yay......much fun is the wiring process. but now that i know, i'd be happy to do it again.........only better. cuz the first time is almost always a lil sloppy.......
oh, btw, picked up the cradle today. very simple cradle. two U shaped bars wedged tightly against the sump to keep it from sliding side to side. depth is aproximately half of the fuel cells height, to keep the bottom of the cell above the bottom of the rear diff in case the suspension bottoms out, with a flat plate overhanging the sides at the top of the legs, so that it can be bolted to the main supports, and removed if i need to work on the rear end, which i am sure i will have to do. now to go get some more steel tubing for the main supports, clamp em in place, fit the cradle, bolt it down, then go have the supports welded to the frame rails. Or just bolt them in place as well. *shrug* who knows.
I F***ING HATE OKLAHOMA WEATHER!!!
oh, btw, it hailed the other day. no real damage, just really irritating to have to put on my combat helmet and heavy coat just to go roll up my window.

Yay! Premature test drive!
she runs! sounds so sweet. misses on accelleration. Handles like......something......that doesn't handle well at all. and is loud as crap with all the holes all over the place. But she runs and drives! yay for small victorys!

that's halarious. I had a good laugh when I saw that. I don't think you can top my poor handling though. The PO cut the springs and the struts were so bad if you pushed them down (pulled from the car) they would stay down. they wouldn't return.
When i said premature test drive, i meant it. while the wiring is fixed, its far from finished. thats saying nothing of the lack of fuel tank. (heh, 1 gallon gas can. didn't get a picture of it, but it'd prolly get a laugh, a groan, and a tear.)

but really, lets se the progress. and this is carb'ed no? so if its missing on acceleration its probably and easy fix, vacumme, spark delivery, or fuel delivery/carb sync.
I'm too young to die! or be homo! much less both at once.
