They're a little bigger than the JWT sport 500's. Here's more info...

Getting closer....

I just need to put the EGR return tubes back on, run the EGR vacuum line, connect the turbo coolant lines, then the tranny is ready to be bolted back on, then it goes back in the car. Once it's back in, then we put the power steering pump, alternator and AC compressor back on along with the rest of the other miscellaneuos stuff. We should be able to have it back in next weekend. Maybe I will be able to drive it for my birthday. It would be just about the one year anniversary on when it failed smog and all this work started.

REALLY nice looking. I wanna build a motor. Those cams look funny, not enough lobes or something..... I know I'm used to single cammers.

I remember a year ago..... you were talking about it being down until february originally...... I was gearing up for new wheels, tires, brakes and shocks.

Didn't feel the need.

The engine's back in! Now it's just a matter of bolting back on the other crap. AC compressor, fuel lines, radiator and a few other odds and ends.

If the power steering feed pipe comes in, then I should have it ready to start this weekend. Dad got the AC compressor back on tonight; which was looking like it was going to be the most difficult part of re-assembly.

Since I've installed the Power steering pump, I was discovered why so many people have problems adjusting the power steering belts. The design is like no other I have ever seen.

You don't adjust the power steering belt from underneath. Your getting it confused with the alternator.

The power steering feed hose arrived today, so I think I'll be turning the key this weekend. One thing I've noticed is that the passenger side doesn't roll up anymore. There's no power to the switch, so I think that there's a gang connector that came loose next to the fuse panel. I probably didn't put it all the way back together.

I drove it home earlier this week. I still have some minor adjusting to do (TPS & boost controller mainly). I haven't gotten on it real hard yet; i.e. I haven't put my foot to the floor, but wholly sh*t is it fast. Huge difference. The new turbos are so damn quite compared the stockers. I'll take it to the dyno in a couple months. I want to put some miles on it 1st.

The 1st start up didn't go without a few tense moments....1st off, after 1 year of sitting, the battery decided that it wouldn't hold a charge, or even start to charge, so I had to buy a new one. With the new battery in, it started on the 1st try. About 5 seconds in, it started making a very bizarre noise, followed by a puddle of oil on the ground. Turned it off in time, so there was no damage. With the new turbos, Z1 sent me new oil feed lines as well. In the drivers side feed line there is a distribution block that has a plug threaded into it. Z1 didn't have the plug in the new line, so we had to take it off of the old line. Lame. Put more oil in it and it started right up again.

As we began adding ATF in to the Power steering reservoir, a puddle of ATF formed on the ground. The reman power steering hose had a leak. Z1 shipped it to me without tightening a fitting. We tightened it, added the fluid and now everything is good.

I'll drive it for a few weeks, then take it in to get it smogged. Here's a couple pictures. I added chromed water pipes and painted the timing belt covers since the last time I posted pistures. It looks even better in person.

Looks awesome. Are you sure you're gonna wanna drive it and get it dirty? It looks SOOOOOO clean. Besides the mods, I'm sure it feels fast since it's been a while. Can't wait to see what the dyno numbers are.

Looks good 91! One of my favorite color schemes. Hopefully you'll pull some nice numbers.

Thanks guys. I need to replace the upper radiator hose. It sprung a tiny leak. No big deal. I need to wash it and give the old clay bar treatment. I'll add my zdriver.com stickers and then throw some more pics up here.

No, I haven't washed it. It's been raining so much up here that I haven't been doing anything with it. I'm still kicking around the hesitation and studder problem. I'm thinking that it's related to the MAF or the DOOLZ intake. I've been meaning to call Z1 and ask them about it, but I haven't had time.

Finally!!! Crank angle sensor was the problem. No more studder/stumble under hard acceleration. F*ckin' sh*t guys....I've never driven anything this fast. Idles well....pulls insanely hard at W.O.T., nice throttle response all around. Now I need to install the adjustable rear upper control arms and the rear strut bar. Still need to get it smogged,...obviously. Need to have it alligned, need to adjust the boost controller, then I'll get it dyno'd. It felt so good to drive it the way it was meant to be driven. This has taken over 2 years, and it's finally almost back to normal.

There's still one small thing weird going on, and I don't know what it is. It only happens when I'm driving at a constant RPM. It feels like I let of the gas slightly for a second. What are the symptoms of a faulty TPS? Thoughts????

Yeah, wasn't that what started all of this? Trying to pass emissions testing that is. It's got to be a rush .... like driving a new car....... er hot rod.

What rpm range does that flat spot appear? If it's in the 2000 - 2500 range, I might first speculate air turbulence in the MAF.
