Problems

I have a 1987 300zx 2+2. Over the winter I installed pacesetter headers, deleted the cat, deleted the egr, replaced valve cover gaskets, replaced distributor cap and rotor, and replaced spark plugs. Now though, when I go to drive it, it starts out fine but after about 2 or 3 miles the power would start to completely cut in and out. Sometimes when i am giving it gas it won't even rev. Also, when I start it and let it run in my driveway, it will idle just fine until I rev it, then it makes a loud banging sound and when I release the gas after that it will idle horribly and eventually stall. I noticed after it made the loud bang that there was a mysterious brown liquid that had dripped onto the floor about halfway down the car. I know its not oil because its too thin and its definitely not gas because it has no smell.

I am at a complete loss as to what is causing the problems so any help would be appreciated.

Starting

Does it start right up when cold ? The starving could be a bad pressure regulator, or fuel pump. When was the fuel filter last changed ?

Thanks for the responses and I actually just fixed it yesterday. I noticed that the bolts for my headers were coming loose so I tried tightening them and now the car seems to run fine. I think it was because the o2 sensor was picking up more oxygen because of the headers being loose. But, it still seems to be spitting out more water than normal through the exhaust. I've read that its normal for water to come out of the exhaust when first started but it doesn't seem to stop even when my car is fully heated up. Anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

Nice

WTG, glad to see you figured it out. Not a common problem, you might want to go back over all the changes you made with a torque wrench and double check how tight everything is. Sometimes, if you get interrupted in the middle of putting something back together you miss something. You are most likely right about the O2 sensor.
