a/c problems

how do i fix the problem with the a/c where it only blows through the defroster vent in the front. i heard you can short something out to make it work. is this true? any help at all would be great!

i could be wrong but i thought it uses vacumm to open and close the vent to change air flow. Maybe the vacumm line running to it diddnt kink or break off. Thats what happened to my old 94 s10.
