oil problem...help!!

Hello all, ive recently found out my oil plug is stripped on the pan while trying to change my oil on my new zx...
Im trying to get suggestions or advice what to do. The locally pep boys quoted me over $400 which seems alittle rediculous, im pretty certain i can get a pan (still working on that)
What is the difficulty of replacing the oil pan myself?
Is their cheat sheets about this(xenon)?
Any chance of drilling it out and replacing it with a self threading bigger plug?
I appologize if this is petty or in the wrong forum, anything would be GREATLY appreciated!
Caleb.

you got to lift the engine to get the pan off. need a hoist for that. I'd go with a self threading plug if you can find something that looks like it would work. if you can get a hoist not too bad just the motor mounts. Or maybe drop the subframe. but still need to have the engine hanging. done it on z31 but not an s130

Yup, just gotta pull the engine up. The pan bolts under at the motor mounts are a bear, then you still have to maneuver it out.

Welp looks like its $400 or no oil change. Much thanks for reading and responding.
I should have kept my DD.

eh? You giving up?

You could remove & install the oil pan in a few hours. If you can't source an oil pan, a last option would be to drill a hole in the pan with a hole saw and weld in a new bung / nut.

EDIT... I actually have an oil pan on a spare L28 motor... I need to check it for dents, but if you need it, I'll sell it to ya for cheap.

No sir, giving up i'snt an option. Just a very young single dad who fears making a poor decision going in on a z trading my daily driver for it. I still have to get my daughter and myself from point a to point be so all i have is open ears and the will do whatever it takes to make sure she is secure. I was just not intending on a $400 oil change (knowing that amount would come from another problem). And again anything helps, I do not have or have access to an engine lift. I'm thinking i may be able to get one of those universal plugs in with the wing nuts that adjusts and suctions in the whole if i can get the stripped one off. Thoughts? I am also pondering drilling a new hole as you stated. Hopefully can go with easiest/cheapest route to keep us moving.
Many thanks for the help and do let me know if you have an oil pan if it comes to that.

I am thinking about going with a newly drilled hole and maybe a universal wingnut plug with the self suction but am still unsure.
Thanks again guys

Just saw your edit nismo, if it comes down to replacing the oil pan(which it most likely will, at some point or another) someone has generously taking care of me with that with a new oil pan!!
Thanks for you help and offer!
