What a week. Two Z's put out of commission. Earlier today, my brother & I. Were working on my slicktop. And then later on, it started smoking real bad. Oil just poured out the side of the block, and onto the ground. It blew the head gasket. Now another one is done for a while. So now, I will be driving my gas guzzling Firebird, 30 miles one way to work. I was so strung out, I broke down, right on the phone with my fiance. What a crappy week.

Indeed these cars can be a pain (I've had a 10 year struggle w/ mine so far). That's why I have other cars to commute to work in.

I bought my Geo Metro for $200, and until this recent head job I'd put very little $ into it... and I get 50mpg.

I daily drive my Z and I don't have any odd problems unless you can my clock turning on and off a problem, but it never loses time! Should I be called extremely lucky then?

It's just kinda how it goes... if you daily drive your car, you can work out all the kinks (and maybe get stranded every once in a while). If you don't daily drive your car, you are less likely to get stranded while in a rush, but more likely to come across big issues because you aren't always driving it to discover them....

oh! quite the conundrum!

Eventually, all old cars are going to have problems.

Update for all of you. I just recently purchased a car from my parents. A '96 Plymouth Neon. It is in awesome shape. And runs like a champ. Will be nice to drive something that gets 30+ to the gallon. And has a/c, and no problems. Yeah I know, it is a weird car. But it will be one less worry about breaking down somewhere.

Don't go crazy...I still have my Z's. They are not going anywhere. Well 2 of them will be. I am keeping 2 of them. And getting rid of 2.

Good luck with the Neon! Keep some money in reserve for it

I summer drive the Z and the only real problem I have is keeping the fluids inside the engine. I just redid the timing cover so that will hopefully solve that problem...

Neon! Ah I had a '97 for a few months, beat the living **** out of that car for the whole time I had it . That's quite the MPG machine too. Now you can focus on the Z's and not have to worry about tossing them back together to get to work the next day, that's what I hate about working on the DD. Now BUILD that thing, the sky is the limit!

Thanks, and the Neon has new parts on it. Including a timing belt. Also a performance head. Anyway the money I will be keeping for it. Is paying it off. I got it for a good price. Don't really want to disclose it. It is well taken care of, and will be a good daily driver.

As for the Z, he was fine until I blew a heater hose. And lost all my coolant. And of course my temp gauge wasn't working. (as previously stated) So I cracked and warped my head. (lesson learned)

Eh...they are allright. It is kind of growing on me. I am grateful, to have it. It is a very reliable car. As for pics...my camera is being stupid. And doesn't want to take pictures with new batteries. Anyway if I can get the camera to cooperate. I'll take some pics of the Neon, and others.

Yes they are, not the best looking things. But definately not the ugliest either. lol I am going to take care of it. And treat it well. I promised my parents that. I will get on it here and there. But will not abuse and mistreat it. And yes they do, get great mileage. Will be nice to pass many gas stations. lol

On another note. Yes, it does give me a chance to get a break. And reflect on the Z's later. I will not put any more money into them. Until I pay off the Neon, and clean up my place for my new life. As was the agreement with my parents, to get the Neon from them.

On another note. I accomplished one of my goals. In moving all the cars I am keeping to one side of the house. ('82 280zx T-top, '82 Slicktop, '75 Firebird, and the '96 Neon Also so I can concentrate on getting other side of the house cleaned up. And also making room. So when I do sell the '83 Z, and possibly strip and junk the '81 Z. I will be able to move it out. And then the new owner can take it from there. Lots of things to do. So little time. Will keep you all posted.
