Heater only works on defrost?!

For some reason today my heater stopped working, and now only workes on defrost? Any ideas.

Also, what is the point of the fuel injector blower motor?

Thanks,

Mine works only on defrost too.
Do you have the auto climate control? Mine does and I think it is because my dash temperature sensor is screwed up. My dash is cracked and the sensor is busted up and down in the crack of the dash. I am trying to find a replacement dash sensor, so if anyone knows where to get one, please let me know.
The injector blower is supposed to keep the fuel in the rail and injectors from vapor locking, i think.
Some folks have taken theirs off, so they could probably answer you better.

I'm not really sure about why the heater only works on defrost, but as far as the injector fan goes...

In the 4 years I have owned this particular 280ZX, I have heard it actually engage 2 times. I finally removed it about 2 months ago like everyone else.

Yes, it is there to keep the fuel in the rail from vapor locking after shut off. This will only occur in the most extreme conditions anyway (heat). Unless you live in Death Valley, you can probably get by without it.

Removing it makes the engine bay a lot cleaner too.

Try removing it and see what happens. Texas in August you might have a problem. if you remove it and then experience starting problems when you stop after a good run and then try a restart soon after shutting down you will know you need it. I live Seattle where a really hot day gets up to maybe 79 and never needed the one on my 81zxt. Nissan must of had enough complaints about fuel vaporizing that they put the blower on there.

If you have the auto climate control/ Good Luck. MY 83 has two types of climate control. All the way hot or all the way cold there ain't nothing in between. Friend of mine with a lot of patience spent $300 and a lot of time trying to get one working. there are posts on how to convert to manual but you need to find a donor first.

im actually putting the blower back on to cool the air so the fuel is cooler, and the intake manifold stays cooler, but im wiring it to come on all the time while the iggy is hot. as far as it working with the defrost only, do you have manual heat or auto, cause if its manual, thats almost impossible, auto is completly believable, cause they suck

I had the same problem with my Z. I replaced the fuse located underneith the dash on the underside of the blower. That fuse is 25 years old so I figured, "why not?" Amazingly it fixed the problem and I never had it happen sence. Start simple I say.
