Talking Door Locks...I am sure you all know this.

Well let me say that when I first lifted the handle on my locked driver door and the key hole lit up with a cool green light I was happy (it's the little things I like about this car). Well I started to think I had some little grimlins in the car until tonight. I powered my windows to the up position and reached over and locked the passenger door (checked it twice) then closed the driver door and locked it with the key (the rod is broken that goes to the lever inside the car to lock the door, so I use the key) well I decided I needed to goto the store a little while later. When I got in the car the passenger door was unlocked, this has happend alot and it gets on my nerves (WHO KEEPS UNLOCKING MY CAR?!) Well when I got back and locked the car up again I saw something move on the passenger door and again when I unlocked it to catch the grimlin. As it turns out when I use the key in the drivers door it locks or unlocks the passenger door!! What a cool car this is and I don't even have power locks.

Did they all just sit around a big table in Japan when designing this car and say we want the Americans to know we make real cars. It will speak to them, it will comfort them, it will make their eyes open wide when they push the gas pedal, it will drive further on a tank of gas, and it will unlock the passenger door for them all by itself! We will call it 280ZX

LOL, you must have an 83. My buddies 83 has those fun little options and they're awesome. I love his car, but I love my 81 just the same. Those neat little options are just one more thing to annoy me when they do stop working. Thanks, I needed that smile this morning...

That's what they called power locks for this car. The passenger door is power. It copies whatever the driver's door does. But, if you lock the drivers door with the key the passenger door is supposed to lock as well.

Mine works 90% of the time. Sometimes I have to unlock/relock the drivers door to get the other door lock to kick in.

The '79 to '81 GL's came with most of the same 'options' that were made 'standard' in the '82 to '83 model years.

My 1980 GL had everything but the talking lady.

My 79 Fairlady 280Z actually came with everything except the talking lady as well. I just figured it was standard for the JDM and not the US until 83. I've never seen an 82 before now that I think of it. That's odd, were there less produced in 82 or something? I can't believe I've never seen one.

Bleach's Z is an 82. I've owned 3 or 4 82's as well.

Yeah Eastern NC uses salt in the air. It's like Agent Orange for cars. Slow, but extremely effective.

I've got my 1982 and two '83 parts cars. The 1982/83 had lights in the doors and interrior light dimming feature that I think was new for 1982.

oh, check out my new sig. I just did a quick full restoration on my Fairlady Z over the weekend.

Yeah it is an 82, so far all but the cruise, air, and rear defroster works. I think the cruise control is going to be the biggest pain in the but to get workin followed by the rear defroster...I noticed when I got the car it had clear tint on all but the windshield and only one line of the rear defroster works...its going to take some paticance from me to fix it with a repair kit and a steady hand to paint the lines back on and lots of tape. Pretty sure the cruise is a vacuum leak somewhere and the air, well the heater core is bypassed but the ac compressor kicks on under the hood so I am sure it will be worth trying to fix and should have the outcome I want. I should have the correct size tires soon and I may also be getting a head unit and cd changer from a buddy of mine real soon. Stupid exhaust flange is still busted..CRAP! But it is raining outside right now and the car looks sexy all wet so I will keep my chin up.

I have an '82 GL as well, also Carl has one, s/cl3.0, and I think gabrielzzz has a '82 turbo. Anyway they are around, just hanging out.

1982 is the best year. It has all the crap that can go out on it, the better rear brakes, solid rocker arms still, no digital dash crap, and the T5 was available in the turbo.

also, back in '82 I could throw a pigskin a quarter mile...
