need ignition help!!!

o.k. guys need some ignition help with my car, the little black box or ic module as some know it, is going for a dump, the cars running like crap, and detonationg lots, i dont know if the module will cause all of this, but heres my setup right now, i got an msd 6a box, blaster2 coil, and tach adapter. i want to know if there is a upgrade for that black box, or do i have to use the stupid thing. i found points to electronic kits for 90 bucks (crane), a far cry from the 220 that the box is, does anyone have info, or has used this setup before. please help guys, im dyin here.

We're talking about the modual on the side of the dizzy right? I think it either works or it doesn't. If it doesn't, the engine won't start. I don't think it is the cause of detonating.

If it's running like crap, it's most likely a fuel problem. Do you have an a/f gauge hooked up?

I told you about the Crane Cams kits. That replaces the module.

Have you checked to see if the coil is overheating? Just because it's new doesn't mean it works. You might also want to check the clearances on the stator/reluctor in the dizzy. Proper air gap is .3-.5mm or .012-.020" by the FSM.

the actual dizzy is good, its new plus i checked the air gap just in case, the coil overheating is a possibility, but i dont have a differnt coil to compare it to, and cause it dies at inconveniant times, like going up a 2 lane hill it really is hard to check, and it does start back up after a couple of tries, i just hope i can eventually get a new module, or the crane iggy thing. just gotta find one first
