280zx CA smog failure

Hi All,

My 1983 n/a failed the NO. It was way over. The egr is supposedly working... any advice would be welcome.

Thanks for the link. Took my car to a cool litttle shop and the fixed it. There was something wrong with the egr system. $225.00 and she passed with flying colors. Got my 2013 tag.

Glad it was simple. What specifically was wrong w/ the EGR? Clogged?

The vaccum line was a bit cloged.

Glad you got it working - I had a smog nightmare a couple years ago and it failed 3 times before passing (I did cap/roter/wires/air filter/plugs/rewired all injectors and cold start, and finally a new cat did the trick after all that.

I recently went through this with my 87 4runner and it was failing with high NO - I cleaned the EGR and it failed again. I got a new cat, and it failed. Then I looked closely and realized the EGR vacuum tubing was not to spec - I had hoses going the wrong way and the EGR was not doing its job. Re did the hoses and BAM! passed with flying colors.

CA emissions are always a fun adventure.....
