6 speed TT swap?

geard identical yes, but some crap with flywheel diameter difference and holds more gear oil suposedly. thats it. rear ends are different and though you can get better acceleration from the NA rearend its supposedly weaker than the TT, plus the TT makes enough power to where you wouldnt give a crap about the rear end difference.

MORE SPEED = MORE FUEL
NismoPick - that's an overly simplistic statement. One could create a transmission that'll result in better gas mileage at 200mph than another transmission at 100mph (ignoring the fact that it might take forever to get to 200mph, it'll still do so while attaining better gas mileage). Gearing and final drive determine the RPM at which the engine has to turn to achieve a given speed... with the right gearing, you can go faster while using the same amount of fuel.
In fact, a stock TT at a given speed will get better fuel mileage than a TT with an NA rear end at the same speed simply because the final drive is smaller. If you were to put a 350Z trans on the car and shift into 6th gear, you'd STILL get better gas mileage with the stock TT setup because the 6th gear on the 350Z is larger than the 5th gear on the TT (.794 vs .752), so the engine will turn more rpm at the same speed. Not to mention the .752 5th gear will give you a higher top-end.
And here are some posts concerning 6-speeds in 300ZX's.
