Transmission

Hello zdrivers, I have a 1990 300 zx NA automatic, my transmission shifts hard into 2 gear almost like a jerking motion, it also seems to shift a little late, but it does shift in all gears, any advise before going to transmission place?
Thanks ahead of time

Yup, do was Nismo said! Make sure to check it with the engine running and trans in park to get a proper reading.

Had a friend drop off his 300ZX the other day with a similar problem. He told me he topped off the trans but when I checked it it was nearly 3 quarts low!

Replace filter

Wouldn't be a bad idea before you add anymore fluid to take it in for a service, have the filter changed and all new fluid added. Who ever does the service can tell you if there was a lot of metal debris in the filter. Then you will have a little better idea where you set.

Thanks for the advice, I will check the ATF fluids in the morning and if it still shifts hard the next step would be to replace the fluids and filter, I hope this works, thanks again.
