clear coat scratch

I guess i set my math book on top of my car today and now i have some nice scratches in my clear coat. Im very irritated. What can i do to get them out?

Try polishing them out. If there small enough that should take care of it.

If the scratch didn't go all the way to the paint, then you can get scratch repair paste from AutoZone. I can't remember what it's called, but we used it all the time @ the body shop I worked at. It's in a white tube w/ color stripes on it. Just go to AutoZone & ask about a clearcoat scratch paste. Works wonders.

polish. It's just an abrasive which is most likely what Nismopick is talking about. Just a very light abrasive that will work the scratches out.

Trust me, lesson learned. Nothing like some scratches in an almost brand new paint job...

First use rubbing compound to remove the scratch, then use swirl remover to remove the small scratches (and swirls) that the rubbing compound makes.
