Engine sitting for 10+ years
I recently bought an 85 NA 2+2 with 155k that had been sitting for 10+ years in a storage unit, which I was planning to use as a donor vehicle for one which wasn't as rotten. After making sure the pistons were free (lube in cylinders and rocking it in fifth), I decided to go all in and fire it up. All of the accessories and power items worked, and the engine would crank, however; it would not start. It would sound as though it would fire on maybe one or two cylinders, and there was a definite fuel smell after cranking. I have fuel pressure and spark, and although I tore the plenum off and cleaned and resealed the injectors, I may not have fuel to the cylinders (I will check the continuity of the injector harness soon). Now, I recently bought a second z31 (an 85 NA coupe) with bad rod knock, so I pulled the good engine from the 2+2 and it's currently on an engine stand.
My question is, other than timing belt and water pump goodies, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter, PCV valve, CHTS, belts, oil change, clutch, and flywheel resurfacing, what else needs to be done (or should be done) on it before it meets it's new home?
I have already done an EGR delete, for simplicity's sake. (Although I have nothing against emissions tech)
