Clutch lock-out

Clutch lock-out

My car will start wih or with out the clutch, what causes this?

i think he means he can start it without pushing down on the clutch... where most cars the cluth needs depressed befor eyou start the car.....right? am i understanding that right? im an expert in bad typing code...i do it all the time.... its like a second language

its just an electrical swithc/sensor....its no big. i mean like, as long as you and or your buddies arnt dumb and try to start the car in gear or crap like that....no harm can come from it. other than that....i dont know how to fix it lol

Now, I am sure someone will eventually correct me on this...... But I think I read somewhere that the pre-87 cars didn't have the clutch lockout feature on the manuals.

I could be wrong. But I thought that on the 84-86 manuals, that microswitch was only used on the cruise control system as a disconnect.

2: 1986 manual trannys start with or without clutch engagement. no lock out on either of mine.

I didn't think it was relevant, but now I do.

I have another question, when the gas gauge reads close to empty I fill it up until it stops at ten gallons, but the owners manual says nineteen gallons is the capacity. Also, it has a dual gauge but when the main gauge reads less than quater of a tank, the sub-gauge doesn't read anything. Is it just a faulty gas gauge or am I not letting it get low enough?

faulty fuel level sending unit. Very common problem. Basically, you aren't letting it get low enough.
