Z31 CVs work on 280ZXT?

Is there a replacement for the 81-83 280ZXT like a Z31 or S13? I think the Pathfinders are shorter? I need to replace a spindle for the 280ZXT project car. The bearings ate the spindle

Actually I'm looking at the FSM - it's the axel shaft - are these the same for the turbo and non turbo? (eg CV vs universal?)

Z31 axles are too long. All 82-83 ZX's use the same cv instead of the 79-81 half shaft.

Actually the NA's (typically) don't have CVs in 82 and 83 - just the turbos. Just trying to figure out if the axel shaft that the disk/wheel mounts to and the bearing ride on is the same on the universal AND the CV and it's just the companion flange that is different....

In the 1983 FSM RA-7 has a diagram of the universal style. I'm assuming the CV is uses the same components in the hub but the companion flange is different?

yeah, everything inside the control arm is the same, it's literally only the companion flange that is different from universal-style cars to CV cars.

The 280zxt Stub axles are 24 spline like the 240z. 280z (75-78) were the strong 27 spline. Not sure why they went smaller w/the turbo cars.

I'm not sure what the NA ZX spline count are. You may want to hit a JY up, pull the companion flange off and count the splines. Most likely they are the same.

hmmm interesting so the wheel side flange is the same, i just have to find te diff side stubs and go to the parts store and order a new cv shaft if i want cv's???? that sounds too easy for some reason, i have a billion of the u joint shaft style ones, but no cv stuff

You need the companion flange as well.... and the CV joints/shafts and the correct outputs for your diffs..... it's just that easy ;P

on CV equipped S130's and other early cars, there isn't a diff side stub, the CV actually goes into the diff.
