weak to no rear defrost

weak to no rear defrost
so my rear defrost isnt working good or even at all most times...when i turn it on the little blue light comes on an the fuse isnt blown...i saw a thread on here that was talking about the defroster lines eroading away but i was wondering if there was anything to check before going and replacing the whole hatch?
