rear window defog/defrost
What year is it? Check the relays and the contol unit for the defogger. Make sure it's plugged in at the hatch also. Don't forget to check the fuses too. If none of that is your problem then either your switch is bad(not likely) or you have a break somewhere in the defogger itself. Hard to diagnose without a meter unless anyone knows of a common failure here.
If it's something small, I know you can buy special soldering kits made just for this purpose. I don't think it works like soldering wires, but it's called a soldering kit anyways? I've never seen the contents personally. If it were me personally, and I felt I absolutely needed the rear defogger(and the problem was in the element), I'd just replace the hatch, or atleast the window with a good one from a junk yard. Z parts are abundant in AZ, just ask s/c.
