rear window defrost?

Hey guys I got my new toy and the other day I tried to defrost my rear window and it did not work. I checked the fuses and they are fine, so I guess I either need a new window or how do i fix the defrost?

Did you check to make sure it's actually connected at the defroster? The little black connector can come off easily while cleaning the inside glass...

But if it's connected and still not working at all, you probably need to replace the whole thing (which means probably the glass). If it were only a section or a few lines, I know Pep Boys sells a repair kit that pretty much just sticks a length of thin wire (that's all a defroster is) over where the connection is lost (which is what causes a non-functioning defroster), but I doubt it'd help you if the entire thing doesn't work.

Does the light on the switch come on when you press it? If not, it might just be the switch, but it's rare for that switch to just die.

The light comes on but no defrost. And Ichecked all of the connections to see if they were hooked up.

check to make sure there's power going to the connector.

Another side tracking, forgive me. I managed to completely break the soldered connection on the right side rear defroster while wiping out the rear window....brillient, I know. So I fired up the soldering gun, got it nice and hot, grabbed my solder, laid down in the trunk and raised it all above my head and then stopped, mentally screaming at myself "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!?!? WHO ARE YOU, WILE E COYOTE?!?!"

So having narrowly escaped a face shower of hot lead I discovered that regular old super glue works just fine
