Does anyone know who sells stock exhaust system parts? I need the pipe that goes from the catalytic converter to the muffler. Muffler shop is having trouble bending this piece. Black Dragon doesn't have it and Motorsports isn't sure if they do. Yes I know I could upgrade, would just like to keep her stock though!

 

BDA doesn't have part# 67-029 or 67-031 or 67-061 in stock? Or they don't offer it?

$150-$250 is pretty high for a stock piece... I imagine most shops would bend you one for less than $100. I'd go to a different exhaust shop where they actually know what they are doing.

BDA doesn't offer it. The shop can bend the pipe, they are concerned with getting the heat shields back properly on what they bend.

 

There's a hold up because of a heat shield?

What heat shield anyway? Maybe it's been too long since I've seen a stock n/a exhaust, but the only heat shields I can think of are bolted to the underbody of the car.

The heat shields bolt to the actual down pipe. Its weird.

 

There were a few in the mid-late 70's that Datsun was real worried about setting grass fires with the converters on, so I can see why there might be a shield controversy.(they were testing them in desert areas when I was at Datsun)
What I can't see is why any supposed exhaust shop couldn't make that pipe...

 

If you can't get a stock piece get a mandrel bent system from MSA and get a more restrictive muffler to keep it stock sounding. Exhausts are like brake pads - they are gonna go eventually....
