It's possible. Especially since it's a rebuilt one. I thought I remembered you saying it's a rebuilt one. A lot of rebuilt parts are just cleaned up parts if there isn't any damage to them and they are still within specs. So take it back and try another one. Explain to them that you checked and verified it was the injector.

no its not wiring because we swapped wiring on the 5th and 6th injectors. they both make the 5th one work but neither 5th or 6th wires make the 6th one work

It could still be faulty. **** happens. It really, really, really sounds like you eliminated everything but the infector.

Alright so let me get this straight.
#6 wires fires number #5.
#5 wires fires #5.
#6 wires does not fire #6.
#5 wires does not fire #6.

Does that sound right? If that's the case then I don't see what it could be other than the FI.

Ok disregard the part about the wiring then, you just answered that while I was typing It's gotta be the injector then. Nothing else it could be that I can think of. Are you sure it's not firing? Are you sure it's getting fuel? Is the line to the injector being pressurized with fuel? If you're sure it's not firing then I guess it wouldn't really matter if it's getting fuel though.

Just to satisfy all curiosity here. Have you tried swapping the infectors around? Try that. Put the new injector in the #5 spot and see if it fires. If it still doesn't fire than it HAS to be the injector.
