Newbie with battery question...

My 82 year old MIL has a 1983 280zx. She loves it and the attention she gets while driving it.

The battery needs replacing and I think it is a reverse terminal battery, but am not sure. Before I buy can anyone tell me if it is indeed a reverse terminal battery?

Thanks in advance.

Cindy

If you go to any parts store, they will ask what car the battery is for... then give you a correct terminal battery. If that doesn't work... the ground is on the left side, the pos on the right side (facing the front of the car).

go to autozone or napa...etc and ask for an "optima red top" those batteries will last a good 10-15 years of outside use..

That might be a bit of overkill for normal driving... and overkill on cost.

I'll admit I bought one! As a matter of fact I buy it for all my cars, never had a problem with it.

Nice part about it is its pretty heavy, so when I put the battery in the back it helped w/ fish tailing.

^^^ they are definitely good batteries, I just wouldn't suggest it for normal driving unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

i ran a battery from walmart the entire time i had my ZX. It had to be replaced once but that was cause the alternator was way overcharging the battery. But i wasnt about to try to stop on a cross country drive just cause the alternator was putting out 16-18V's. In hind sight though, it may have been a wise decision as the alternator finally seized up and took the water pump with it and left me stranded 100miles from my final destination. I didnt realize this though cause i had no temp gauge and the only reason i pulled over was cause the batter finally kicked the bucket and the car died due to lack of juice :S

It's a group 24F... The "F" is the important part

That's all you have to ask for.
