Short answer... There aren't any that are cheap and make 'good' power. Of course, this is a purely subjective matter that has been discussed at lenght in the past.

Do a search for my posts and those of Bleach and you'll get some good ideas.

You can't really make 'more' power, but you can free up 'trapped' power.

Cold air intake, free flow exhaust and lightened flywheel are about the only things you can do without going inside the motor or adding Nitrous which I don't recommend.

Put on a lightweight wheel and tire combo, pull all the extra crap you don't need out of the car. I would leave the spare tire, jack and lug wrench...

Lightening the load will make it feel like you've added power and will improve performance.

Why leave the spare tire? Do you seriously trust a 22+ year old inflatable tire?? I'd rather be stranded on the side of the road than try to drive on that thing... but thats just my opinion.

The spare has worked for me in the past. Just aired it up, and fixed my other tire.

Tires deterioriate mostly as a result of use, improper storage, exposure to the elements and UV.

Tucked away in the spare tire compartment, ours are pretty well protected and retain their drivability for quite a long time.
