Yeah, dude for sure. Once I pop on the original Z wheel I'll get new tires for the whole thing and get the alignment so it's cheaper. I was thinking about doing the same thing that you said get rid of rust + primer it and then fix it down the line once I have enough cash. My main concern is suspension/alignment right now though.

Use a rust inhibitor/converter before priming. If you leave ANY little spot of rust in a small pit in the metal, it'll just bubble up under the primer. Remove as much rust as possible, then add a converter/inhibitor, then primer and you'll have the best chance of keeping it at bay.

But sorry snwbrderphat540, it's not a turbo

If the engine is still in good enough condition I'll turbo it and add the ZXR wing...

>_>

<_<
Good on ya!

Another word of advice,...on the bill of sale, make sure you get him to write down all that he claims he did to the car and all the parts it has as upgrades...receipts for those parts?

...If its too late for this and you already picked up the Z then maybe you can get a copy of the car's "for sale" advertisement, and keep that with the car papers...better to have it then not.

....and Welcome to the Z ownership!

Oops, a little to late...

lol, I love the car it drove like a beast I was seriously impressed by it after driving it for a while I took it up to 65-70ish on Osceola Parkway and while it was my first time driving stick I only stalled once when I was taking it out of the driveway in reverse.

I found more rust, but I was able to get it down to 800 dollars and the kid even said any time that I have a problem I can cannablize off of his part's car. The car got a lot of attention, theres only 2 pre z31 Zs in my area including me so that was hell tight.

The kid gave me new jumper cables, original owner's manual, several repair manuals, parts magazine, and he sadly told me that whenever I wanted to get a new magazine to go to his house because he has a subscription to a Z magazine.

I promised to keep in touch since we're on several forums so he could see what has been done in order to restore the Z.

I wish I had more pictures, unfortunately I wasn't able to bring my Z home because we went to Congo river golf and the battery died on me completely. We tried to jump it, but it wouldn't go. So I had to sadly leave it on the property, my friend's dad said we'll trade in the battery tomorrow (original owner had a warranty on it and advised us to exchange it but it would take over an hour and we were pressed for time)

He was pretty cool and wrote that he sold it to me for 100 dollars on the title so it won't be to expensive to get it registered, get a tag, and get it insured. (Yes, I was breaking the law :/)

My friend works at Congo River and we put a sign on the car that says property of Congo River Golf so no cops will hassle me for it.

Tomorrow we trade in the battery, get a new starter plug and a cable since it's messed up. After that she should be running fine (besides the other things needed such as an alignment etc), though I'll probably drain all the fluids tomorrow as well once I come home from school.

I am very satisfied with my purchase though I'm sad I had to leave it at Congo River.

Once I bring it home tomorrow I'll take some pictures for you guys.

its like heroin man.... until you work on them for 6 straight hours 4 days in a row after school and work in almost 100 degree weather and 90% humidity then you dont want to look at it for about a day or 2....

:/

It's dead, has no registration or insurance and it's now at the local target (I got it started). I thought it might be a gas problem and that it wasn't showing up right. Well, I put new oil in it and I refilled the tank. Car starts but it doesn't rev up or anything when I give it gas and quickly shuts off. My dad now thinks its an electircal problem (I think spark plug) and pretty much thinks I got ripped off even though I told him I got a great deal.

Last night I noticed this giving out sparks, so I want to replace this spark plug.

Hopefully this fixes the problem for now...

Any advice?

Uhh, how much would that come out to?

I only have a 100 dollars left which I had for registration...

I know the rotor was recently replaced, I mean I guess I could replace all the spark plugs and the wires but damn I don't think I have money for everything and I don't want to make anything worse so I was thinking about getting a mechanic to look at it.

Did the car just die out while I'm driving? I'm thinking one of two things at the moment that would be that sudden as to cause you that much problem. AFM or Fuel Filter. I remember someone else had a problem where they were drving fine then the car just crapped out on them which turned out to be the fuel filter.

its cheap, but look at the stuff first, post a pic of you spark plug ends, and take off the cap take a pic of the inside of teh cap and a picture of the top of the rotar. if you almost ran it out of gas, it could very well be teh fuel filter though, so look at stuf before you replace it all. and for 100 bucks a mechanic (if he even knows Z's) probably wont look at it.

and i got family in kissemee, well used i think they moved a couple towns away or soemthing. maybe ill fly out to them and you can pick me up

Nah it died out on me when I went to start the car again, it read that I had half a tank but the fuel light still came on so I figured it was gas and that it just wasn't reading right before.

Damn man, I don't know anyone in the area who knows about Zs besides the person who sold it to me. I'm really mad right now, I want to go get it but I'm babysitting.

I'll try to take pictures, those are all old pictures I couldn't bring my camera...

Crap man.

I love this car, I just got it...can't be that messed up already.

Guess I'll call the kid and ask if I can cannibalize his parts car.

Old owner says he's going to try and help me with the issue since I only used the car once and then it died on me.

We'll see how that goes.

Dude, get it home first. then when you are patiently doing your checks, check one more thing...the catalytic converter. Talk to the last owner and find out if they replaced it recently and if so then what kind of a product did they use? cheap parts VS quality parts.

The insides of an old catalytic converter can come loose with the proper motivation, even gradualy over time and plug up the exhaust pipe. That is also known to cause what you described above. What was the old prank again?...stuff a potato in the tail pipe and watch them wonder why it won't run...or something like that

The car may start but will shut off as soon as its revved up and exhaust pressure builds...

This could have easily happened as you drove it hard soon after it had been sitting for who knows how long with an old catalytic converter.

Thats my two cents worth...Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I actually managed to fix it by messing with all the wiring guess everything wasn't on tight enough when he put the stuff on.

Sorry for the false alarm, its running and I replaced fluids.

I'm a happy guy again.

Pictures tomorrow, I promise.

you...... need to stop the rust so teh frame doesnt rust out on you and teh car breaks in half. lol a little exageration but stop it while the car is worth it. and im currently running an open down pipe right under my *** in teh car. lol. it taint so bad. sounds like a diesel truck though the way that turbo spools. but meh, ill be getting an exhaust and IC piping made up as soon as the car starts and drives and runs good for 4 days in a row. lolz!
