I recently bought a 1983 280ZX 2+2. I am trying to determine it's resale value. It has 163,000 miles and has some rust in spots but overall the car looks good. It runs strong and shifts well. The tail lights don't work, neither does the ac. It runs very strong and smooth.

Sorry I meant 1982 280ZX

It's a 1982 not '83. My bad.

1000-1800
It has been discussed among other members that body matters over engine because the engine usually costs considerably less to repair then the body, and this body looks fairly rust free and restorable, so long as you don't have any rust spots in hard to reach places like the windshield seal, or taillights I would say its worth 1800 or more, but the randomly missing parts and the fact that its automatic not manual drives the price down a bit.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Where are you located? That seems to make a difference in the pricing. An automatic and 2+2 is gonna drive the price down....

unless you sell it right, paul newman raced a 280zx 2+2 because the 2+2's had a bigger wheel base which gave him better handling, you can use that as a selling point, and you could sell the automatic by saying they shift faster then a manual.

$1000

The hood looks like it has a lot of rust on the leading edge, Id like to see the spare tire well and under the front carpets, if its solid, no more rust 1200 to 1500. if the floors are rusted $800. If its rusted badly, try and sell it to a non enthusiast, one of us would look far to closely and pay $ 500 tops and call it a parts car. The guys are being brutally honest on this one, best not to lead you on. Now on the flip side, many cars parted out are worth a lot more sold piece by piece, something to consider.
