Hey, man, that thing for sale?
Hey, man, that thing for sale?
So yesterday, after finishing the door panels on the Z, I get a guy ringing my doorbell. The conversation went a little somethng like this:
Him: Hey, do you own that Z out there?
Me: Yeah....
Him: I have a question. Would you takefour grand cash for it, or is it not even an option?
Me: (slightly dumbfounded, this is my first cold offer for her) Uhh...Well, she's my current daily driver, I have parts in the mail for her, a complete parts car, and modifications planned or in the making for the next week...
Him: Well, do you mind if I take a few pictures and you can tell me more about it?
Me: (At this point I get uneasy, its a nice neighborhood, but we just moved in and are a little unsure about some of the people) Sure...
Long story short, he's driven past it many times on the way to his friend's house and only noticed the other day that it had moved (so I did indeed drive it). He has gone through four Hondas in three years and is looking for a step up (Understandable, she was my step up from Hondas). Ending offer on her was $4,100 american. What do you think?
So far, here is what I've done:
Outside-
Satin black rattle can paint w/ red pinstripe tape for accents

installed ceramic brake pads,
Autopal headlights with the best H4's Autozone carries

blacked the sun visors and roof acessories (map light, rearview, etc)

black carpeted the hatch, spare tire, storage box, and taillight panels
Installes a cup holder in the center cosole
installed R1 racing seats,
installed pioneer 6x9's behind the seats
installed a powered antenna (way better reception)

I say definitely do it. No offense but it sounds like your cat isn;t worth near that much so it'd be a good deal if you don't mind letting go!
Is it a turbo? If not, then I say 100% go sell it today. Even if it is, I would!

the stuff you have done to it seems easy enough to do to another car and the stuff you have ordered keep and use it towards another zx. what have you actually invested? your in wa so zx's are common and can be found cheap and not too far from ca where nice zx's are very findable for your 4000 bux. how special is your car. ive been offered many times and said no even with great a offer ($10,000) its special to me in so many ways i cant even fathom selling it. now i had a 75 datsun 620 truck i invested 2200 into. i guy rolled up next to me and said how much? i said 3000 and we settled at 2700 and the truck was gone next day. it didnt have memories and woulda been hard to sell when i wanted. and the funny part is its for sale on my local craigslist now for 4000 and has been for 2 years now!!
well, total I have about 3.5k into herif you include the purchase for 2k and oil changes every 3k miles. It is not a turbo (and found out the parts car was a matching n42/n42). I have quite a few memories with her and a lot of blood shed. Waiting for him to call me back, if/when he does, guess I'll be riding my bike in the cold. Might go to the dark side and get a Golf (Naturally I'll have a Z again in the long run).
On a side note, you always forget the additional things you have for cars, don't ya?
Bilstein shocks for the rear
truespoke 80 spoke wire wheels with tires (ugly as hell, were on her when I bought her)
steel mag centerline truck style rims with tires(thought about blasting and powdercoating black and tossing on snow tires)
etc etc etc
fpr came in and is installed
front sidemarker led's came in and installed
most likely swapping the clusters today, still working on the dash to be repaired.
