Mine's kind of the same too. Usually I don't need to but sometimes I have to tap the pedal ever so slightly when starting it. As long as it runs normal, I'd say it's probably fine. I mean they're pretty old cars after all there's bound to be a few tricks here and there

Welcome to ZDriver!

Could you give a lil more background on the prob?
When did it start?
Suddenly or slowly got worse?
What have you checked?
Have you done a basic tune up?

Um... Let me think....(ugh it hurts!)

Fuel Filter, change it. Air filter...same thing. Change it. Doesn't have to be a K&N, just change it.

CHTS plug... (The little thingy between cylinder 5 and 6 below the spark plugs... toward the firewall. Clean the connections.

Of course, a general tune up goes a long way. Try that, see what happens.

Probably should check out the temperature sensor before anything else if your temp gauge doesnt work,

^ Yeah I would check that too. I learned the hard way, when I lost a heater hose on the freeway with my T-top. I warped and cracked my cylinder head, because of the gauge not working.

All aside, my Z runs great, just is hard to start also. These cars are notorious for having cold start issues. I really haven't had a Z, which didn't give me problems. When trying to start it. It is just a process of elimination. Welcome to the world of 280zx's. lol Good luck man.
