Charging issue?

Car is 80 n/a
I recently replaced my Combination Meter (bad speedo). A few days after replacing it, the top right light of the three lights on the side started to flash (does not stay on solid only flashes). It says "Charging'.

Looking at the fsm el-35 that light should be the "light and key warning lamp", and the charging indicator is on the combination gauge.

The charging indicator on the gauge does not indicate a issue.

I'm not sure what is going on with this.
Everything else on the cluster works fine, and this did not light up when I first installed the cluster.

Is this a case of getting a cluster from a different year model, or do I have problem i need to resolve?

Any suggestions are welcome.

If just the speedometer was bad, why didn't you just swap speedometers and keep the orig cluster?

1 Never thought of that. to swap out the speedo, is it just a few screws, or is there more involved?

You have to open up the cluster and swap speedometer units. Takes about 5 extra minutes and requires a phillips screwdriver.
