Mikes Z Shop Whittier California - Fixed 280ZX Turbo
I had a problem after a Local shop changed Plug wires and all Vacumm lines
on my 1981.5 280ZX Turbo
It no longer passed smog.. Idle was upped by the Throttle set screw.
The Idle set screw should never been touched. The LOW Idle was just a symptom of the wrong wires and Vacumm lines being connected incorrectly
One symptom was EGR valve had vacumm on at all times.
On my own I replaced "poor" plug wires with Bosch lifetime wires - Idle came up 200 RPM
I called the sales desk at ZCARparts MSA in Orange CA
He thought a moment and said Mike's Z Cars in Whittier 562.693.9914
I made a cold call - just got on the freeway - arrived and when Mark looked at the car he made one move to the Vacumm of the EGR valve and
said Ah Haw !!!
As it was late in the day, I guessed the work would have been put off to my next day off. But no, Mark jumped right in to diagnose the issue.
As a 1981.5 Turbo suppliment manual was AOL - He opened up his own Beautiful Black 280ZX Turbo and felt out the correct path of the lines to make mine correct.
Not only did Mike's Z Shop my EGR issue but also fixed Stop lights issue and supplied a Flasher and Turn Signal module - I also found Mark is not a "parts changer mechanic" - You know the kind that knows there are a lot of parts that might be wrong and they "throw a dart at the parts page to decide which parts to change" then say "nope - well lets change this"
I'm a happy customer, and although I don't normally do plugs. I give this shop Five Stars for all you folks in the LA area or have the ability to get your car to Mark at Mikes Z shop

I had a little chat with Mike last year around April when a 240Z with an insane turbo charged VQ45 came up for sale claiming to have been built by Mike. I did a little research and found some weird stuff coming up with the VIN. A call to Mike confirmed that he hadn't built the car and someone was using his good name in vain. He thanked me and took the info of the culprit. He was not happy to say the least. So while he's never done any work for me I got a good feeling from our conversation. I've heard good things about his shop before and it's nice to continue to hear it. Free bump for Mike!
