battery charger

What is the correct way, to hook up a battery charger to the z's using a (1.5amp) battery tender.....

other than putting the clamps on the battery post.....

will this harm any electrical componets hooking it up this way?????????/

or should you put the ground clamp to the frame instead of the battery post...

thanks hermultra

Your car will blow up if you hook up a battery charger!!!! Don't dooooo iiiittttt!!!!!

Just hook it up... + to + and - to - You can hook the neg to the neg battery terminal, or to a body ground. It makes no difference.

Hey, i had no idea either...

http://www.howtodothings.com/automot...r-battery.html

http://www.battery-chargers.com/char...structions.htm

On my battery charger, clamps are colored... so I just hook up red to red and yellow to yellow.

Interesting that on my dads Mercedes, the battery is located under the rear seats so when battery died, he hooked up one clamp to a terminal? somewhere around the engine and the other clamp to the frame... and it started up.

I heard using the old fashioned cables from car to car might possibly not be good for some electrical components... but maybe that's with newer cars.

That's how my BMW's are. Battery in the trunk & positive jump pole under the hood. The battery in the trunk comes in handy for those "hard to jump start" locations... Like when I had to rescue FDC_GUY from a crowded parking lot.

Weren't there any instructions that came with your float charger? The only warning mine gave was to connect it to the car battery before plugging into the wall. And to unplug from the wall before disconnecting from the car battery.
