Swapping to T5

I was looking at changing the trannsmission in my 82 NA 2+2 to a T5 (possibly a TKO is I can get it for the right price) and I was wondering if I would need to swap the driveshaft. I am asuming I would have to get different trannsmission mounts, shifter, etc. This is something that would happen on down the road but I was just curious if ya'll had any input on this.

In fewer words, What would I need to do to put a Bord Warner T5 trannsmission in my 82 NA 2+2?

Well if I do decide to swap to a T5 it will be an aftermarket one, like a TKO so I'm not worried about how much power it can handle.

Can't hold much power? I thought they were stronger than the Nissan n/a transmissions. Guys have run 300-400hp turbo engines with the T5 on the back.

The T-5 is a Borg Warner transmission used by american cars powered by 3.8-5.0 engines. They are strong. Even the n/a transmissions can be used on a L6 turbo upwards of 300hp. The gears are fine, its those Nissan syncros that go out so easily, but that's just wear and tear. If you blow out gears a lot, your tranny was probably never maintained or you have horrible shifting habbits. ...or I don't know. I don't see how guys can blow out an R180 rear end on a n/a L28 but its been done!

Oh, and I'm planning the exact same swap into my N/A 280ZX 2+2. I've had the tranny and center turbo driveshaft for quite some time but there are so many other priorities in life. I've heard that you need the rear tranny mount from the turbo, but I've also heard that all you do is turn the n/a mount over and bore out the holes a little.... I'll find out for sure when I get around to doing the project myself.

thanks bleach.
let me know how it goes...i'm still in the planning stage.
i think i can find all i need at the local "pull a part" lots.

still, there doesn't seem to be a concensus.
guess i'll just have to keep the n/a around.....just in case.
