No Start
Okay so tonight the girlfriend and I worked on the Z, in a little under two hours it went from fully assembled to having the cam cover, distributor, oil pump, shaft, a/c compressor, p/s pump, alternator, fan, radiator, water pump, crank pulley, idler pulley, and front cover removed. Im now able to move the chain around but, I think I will wait until the morning to take care of that. Depending on what condition things are in I might set the cam to #3 (both marks this time LOL) just to be safe with any stretch. Hopefully I can have everything done tomorrow, I was pleased and surprised with how quickly everything came apart. Progress pics to follow tomorrow

I think you guys would **** if I mentioned she was japanese
Anyways, I woke up late this morning and since then I've gone to wal-mart for cat food and breakfast but, nothing else haha

Well, in that case I will bring up the fact that she's only half
, hehe she helped me break the crank bolt loose which wasn't that easier because I used loctite when I put it on, so we used a six foot piece of PVC pipe while she held the vise grips on the cam.

my gf is pure canadian as it gets and she helped restore my car, she did all the paint stripping, some wet sanding and helped instal the motor, and drove me to the hospital when i got hurt, id put a pic, but she would kill me. hydrid your on the right track now, a good clean start. itll have to run now
Whelp, I got it all back together today. Without the radiator and powersteering pump hooked up I attempted to start it and, well it did. Damn near thought I was going to cry when it started and idled on it's own with the first try. I went over to wal-mart for some distilled water and flat black spray paint for the radiator, took care of that and got coolant in it. Started it again and fine let it idle for awhile, gave it several taps of the throttle and all seems good. I moved the distributor just a small bit and now I can't get it to fire eventhough I've tried moving it back and forth little by little. The point is, everything is back together, it started three times and idled fine except for a little bit of dying down after a few taps of the throttle but, it did not stall. I know bleach is going to kill me for this one but, when lining up the notches on the oil pump the rotor never pointed to the #1 tower so I just moved all of the wires over one so that it did, I suppose that could be my problem for the not starting, I don't know at this point. Im just freaking tired from working on the car all day, Im calling it a night and I will attack it again in the morning, give me some input on what you think might be up.
Oh and I've got a small coolant leak, and a small but, steady oil leak from somewhere in the front cover, does anyone think oil could be coming from the two holes on the top of the front cover where two 10mm bolts are supposed to be? I can't remember if those holes were open or not, I couldn't find the bolts tonight but, that could be my problem.
Also, when I was taking the car apart, I snapped one of the studs in the exhaust manifold going to the pipe so I only have two bolts holding that on and a small but steady bit of smoke comes from it, would it be normal for smoke to be coming from the exhaust manifold or is it possibly just burning off stuff from sitting so long? I don't think any smoke was coming from the muffler.

the 2 bolts missing are in the oil passage area, thats prolly where the oil is coming from, or the front seal if you didnt put oil on it to lubricate on start up. snapping a stud sucks and means it may have to come off, which means more will break. if it doesnt have a ticking noise from the manifold, then just leave it and drive and enjoy your zed.
If you installed a new intake/exhaust gasket then that will burn off and smoke. Just retighten the bolts and it should stop smoking. As long as the mating flange of the exhaust manifold isn't warped then you should be fine with a broken stud. It may or may not leak. BUt eventually, if it doesn't leak now, it most likely will start to leak as the flange will distort from the heat. If the reference mark on the oil pump shaft doesn't line up then you're better off rotating the shaft to get the rotor to #1 then you are moving the plug wires around. It's no big deal if those marks don't line up. Their only point is to make reinstalling the oil pump easier. It's not detrimental if they dont line up. The important thing is that the rotor points to #1.
Then that I shall redo
. I just want to take this chance and thank all you guys for you advice, tips, walkthroughs and most of all patience with me. I honestly believe without this forum and your help Bleach, J, and Shady that my car would be nowhere near the state it is now.

BTW: I couldn't pay the gas bill so the hot water is shut off and I can't bare to take another cold shower, not when it's this cold in the house but, I have oil and grease all over me and in my hair! I just thought you guys should know.
