hello i recently bought a 79 280zx from a neighbor. stumbled tryin to start it. its not getting fuel. i dont know if i am suppose to hear the fuel pump come on and cycle b4 it starts. i did put 2 gallons of gas in it. i sprayed fuel injection cleaner in the throtle body and it will start for a moment and then turn off when that burns off.

so am i suppose to hear the fuel pump come on in the car...how do i check this unit and check the relays. thanks in advance. i look forward to hearing my zx fire up the first time

When was the last time it ran?

As for the fuel pump, yes, you should hear it prime for a few seconds when you turn the key to ON. The FP relay is to the right of the glove box & someone of a pain to get to (it's the GREEN relay). Also make sure the fuseable links aren't fried.
