Fuel Problem

Okay so I haven't had any fuel problems before with the car. I drove the car in the dirt one day and next thing you know, after coming back from a friends house it decides not to start. I noticed the fuel not going through when you put the key in the on position. If anyone has any solutions to this that would be great, sorry if this is another repeat of a thread before but I just wanted to get this out before class. Looking forward to the responses, I'm eager to get the Z running again.

Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on?

Mine did that once and i replaced the fuel pump, changed out the ignition switch, checked some fuse under the dash from my parts car, but got nothing. After about 3 hours of piddling, i called the guy who told me to check all this stuff, and he said "did you check the fuse link under the hood? You should have checked that first. That one I did not hear him say anything about. I popped the hood on my parts car and removed a metal panel from the fender wall beside the battery. Behind the metal panel was a wire that had a fuse link in it. It took less than 5 minutes to find the link, pull it and put it into my car and the fuel pump kicked in. So check power to the pump and check that fuse link before replacing pump or any other stuff i did. Learn from my mistake. Good Luck!

Sorry, one of my panels is metal with a screw, but the one on my 83 is a plastic panel, right beside the fuse link in the photo towards the firewall. Remove the panel and the wires are actually in the fender wall. You just pull them out and switch out that fuse link. This may not be your problem, but it was mine and the easiest fix of all the things the mechanic i bought my car from told me to try. I like to start with the easiest and cheapest fix and work my way up, when i am troubleshooting. Good luck!

yeah i figured it was that plastic panel, I didn't see anything wrong with the link but now since I have time I'll have a friend go through troubleshooting with me now. Oh for an update, I tried starting it again and no response what so ever.

Maybe you could break out a multimeter (or even a 12v light bulb) and check for power at the fuel pump.

That wasn't "flaming." It was a courteous nudge to search & find... and I still helped you.

My fuel pump won't do the pre start prime. I've changed all fuel pump relays, and every fusible link. The car will still start though. Maybe I have to change out the efi relay?
