Iceice9 Questions

Hello Isaac,

I am new to the site. I have an 83 280ZXT (owned since new and never driven in winter, as I live in NH).

Your ride is sweet. (My car is currently down with TA damage to nose).

Can you provide name of your Aero package (from Motorsport?) and the source and name of your wheels? Also, source and effects of wheel spacers

Also, not too knowledgeable about adverse affects of high performance spring packages from MtrSport that lower vehicle by 1" . What affects to Caster/Camber does it have??

Can you help?

Thx,
Steve

riteo n.. heres the 411 on my set up... i went with the aero kit II package from motorsport. the Rims im riding on are tenzo SHU 4s that are 17x7 with a 42 mm offset.. and if you go to the motorsports website.. they sell the exact same rims that are on my car now... they even come with the spacers that youll need... but when i got mine i bought the rimds off e bay brand new and the wheel spacers from Ross at www.modern-motorsports.com. as far as lowering package i went with the tokicos front and rear strut and springs... i didnt get the illuminas they cost more and they no longer make them for our cars... as far as camber and caster.. its going to dramaticly affect your camber.. id get a camber kit from motorsports for the rear.. and get strut spacers for your front.. they sell them on e bay for around $50 -$70 dollars..they really do work... check them out...

Thanks......

.............for the info. I finally had a chance to visit your site and view the pics. You definitely have the "Z" bug. Your car looks great.

On the front section of the Aero II kit....Does it replace the original left, center and right valance sections or does it install over them?

Still not convinced that I want to lower my suspension but I appreciate the info. I am in the process of tearing down the front end and removing the powerplant. )The TA bent the rt frame spar.

I had Intercooler, Upgraded ECU, aux boost control, pop off, free flow exhaust, etc. It goes fast enough for me...I'm 48...don't need the speed any more ! (lol). I had original paint...it was cherry until the big dump truck hit it.

I never thought I would keep my Z for 20 years...but it grew on me. Every spring it was like driving a new car when I took it out of storage. My 10 year old daughter was heartbroken when it was hit (she was going to inherit it..lol) but I will eventually bring it back to life. While the eng is out, may as well rebuild it. These rigs do become a money pit

Mine is orig Regatta Red with black "TURBO" accent stripes down the lower sides and the black plastic side trim. I would send a photo but none here at work.

After reconstruction, it will be repainted Vipor or Regatta red.

On the airdam...just to clarify...the orig bumper cover stays, correct?

You have put a lot of work into that car...you should be proud of what you did.

I have a long road ahead to rebuild mine. It was hit HARD. Rt door skin, Rt fender, inner fender support well, Inner wheel splash shield, radiator, rad fan, headlight bucket and assy, radiator support frame, bumper, bumper cover, hood, and front cross member all trashed, along with various other small parts. Intercooler and oil cooler okay though. It will be a weekend project car during the winter.

no.. the only thing that stays the same is the bumper frame.. also the new MSA airdam is also about 3: closer to the body then the stock bumpers.. you have to compress the bumper shokcs.. its pretty easy.. after you remove the frame from the shocks theres a lil philips head screw that you remove and then you compress the shock.. then put the screw back on..

Thanks...that clears it up. I thought your bumper cover looked "different" ...lol..and not as "distended" as the original. That will save the cost of a new cover added to the air dam cost. The reinforcement bumper bar is a reasonably priced aftermarket, which I still have to buy.

I have to buy new bumper shocks anyways, so that will be an adjustment that will easy prior to the installation (thx for the tip).

I have been looking at that Aero package in the MSA catalog but their pics suck; they need to do a better job of photo taking (hey..there ya go..submit YOUR car as an example!).

My home email is: baseball248@msn.com. Drop me a line and I'll forward some pics.

Thanks again,

Steve
