Another Iceice9 question

Isaac,

As I looked through your cars pics again, It appears that your rims have a blue tint to them. Is that a reflection ?

Also...nice red turbo that your friend has. Is that Regatta Red or a Guards Red.

Thx Isaac.

I attached the only pic I have at work. It was 2 days prior to the "crash."

Yes...bad crash. Got hit by a BIG dump truck. Car has sat for a year while the insurance companies **** on each other. Rt frame spar is bent up 14", along with the other visable damage. I just started tearintg it down for the restoration.

oh man.. that looks bad... i hope who ever fixes your car gets her as straight as she was before... you mihge be better off finding a ZX the same year as yours that doesnt run and swap out your egnine... cuz frame damage is hard to fix... it might lookg straight but after driving it for a few motnhs you might notice uneven tire wear... that was the story of my 79 280ZX.. she was bent like a bananna lol looked straight but her frame and allignment was all messed up..

yes...it was bad. Never even had a door ding in 20 years.

yeah, I am very wary on frame damage. However, I have found a frame shop that has an excellent reputation. (We have a lot of crashes in NH, due to the weather...lol). I have confidence they can fix her. Entails engine \ dash removal and splicing in a new spar at the passenger compartment .

I had considered finding another Z but not too many in New England area. My Z is still flawless from winshield back. I will take my time and rebuild it.

Thx for the tip. Also, see my thread in Appearence under OEM vs Aftermarket. Any info?

Yes...it has been difficult to think I may have to forget about salvaging my car. It was the poster girl for the '83 Datsun magazine.

I have pics coming back today of a partial teardown...I'll pass them on when I get them scanned.

The right frame rail is bent straight up 9 inches. The wheel well housing is the worst...total replacement required.

I have been nosing around for replacement shells but the rust free cars are high in price.

Thx for the info and help. (my daughter thinks her dad can do anything and will bring her inherited Z back to life! I hope that is true!).

I have an old girlfriend (from way back in the 5th grade) that lives in New Zealand. I still correspond.

Steve
