Thumbs up 82zx 2+2 digital or analog

Hi everyone. Acquired a 1982 zx 2+2 from my dad about 5 months ago. Right now it is in shop getting heater core replaced. Dash is out, has cracks and clear plastic lens that covers speedo and tach is cracked and foggy. So may be perfect time to replace dash. I have an opportunity to go with the digital, or should I stay with the analog. If I can get a working digital dash for between 500-750 that is in mint condition, would that be a good deal? What is everyone's experience with the digital dash? PIA or cool upgrade? Thanks for any advice.

Digital dashes are "cool" looking... that's about it. The speedo still only reads to 85mph and the digital tach is less accurate. I can think of a million other things to spend $500 on rather than a digi dash, but it's your car.

There are tons of youtube videos of the 280zx digi dash if you've never seen one work..

I would pay $500 to get rid of a digital dash lol. My dream car - a 280ZX Turbo with the digital dash. When I picked up my NA with a digital dash about five minutes of driving I was wondering why I thought a digital dash was ever a good idea lol

Thumbs up thats what I kind of figured

you have confirmed my thoughts. I have a nice dash cover and will find a clearer plastic cover over the speedo/tach and be done with it. thanks much for the input.

plus junkyards are great for stuff like the plastic lens you were talking about, it will probably cost you 10$ max so long as you don't tell the guy how badly you want it.

Yeah stick with analog. The digital dashes are also hard to read when the sun hits them. I have an '83 with a digital dash. Not sure what I want to do yet. If I decide to keep it, I will probably swap to analog. If I decide to sell it, when I get it running. I will keep it the original digital package.

do you guys think there's a way to modify a digi dash so that it will read higher than 85mph?

and yuck... I can't believe the racket on those things. that's too much money for a bit of 80's hardware.
