Question for the Experts

Greetings:
Thanks in advance for any intimate advice!

I'm planning on buying a 1978 280z that is currently halfway across the United States. It's being inspected on Friday. The company's knowledge is probably strong, but that's not the same as y'all who work on them, etc.

Here's what i know:
no accidents
2 owners
ac is fine
new tires
new clutch
garaged, warm weather since birth
new paint job
4-speed,with modified CAM
high performance exhaust
157,000 miles
$7980

what do I need to know, ask, have the guy check?

I'd rather be out $350 for an inspection, than $10K for car, shipping etc!

Thanks so much!
Judi

RUUUUUUST check for rust everywhere...frame rails, doors, under the hatch, guards...under the battery

I know it says new paint but you never know what they have done before hand

Holy cow, $7980? Well, it's your money, but I'd never pay that much for a 280Z. Depending on the quality of the new paint job, then I might pay $2K for the car. Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Yeah... there's no way I'd pay $8k for a 280Z w/ 157K miles... I scored my clean 1970 240Z for $500... all it needed was a drivers window.

YEAH THAT IS WAY MORE THAN YOU WANT TO SPEND ON A 78 MAYBE IF IT WAS 30,000 ORIGINAL MILES AND A FAIRLADY (RIGHT HAND DRIVE). You can prob find a better one cheaper and mod it the way you want for that price.
