diesel maxi pad fuel question plus bonus question

checking out a maxima soon, i was curious is the fuel pump in the diesel the same as a gasser or is it different?

also bonus question, what had is usually strapped to the L24E in the maximas in 1984?

my thoughts are, if its a good diesel maxipad, fix it and drive it, if its crap try and salvage the crank and other usable parts.

or

if its a good maxipad with a better head than whats on my 79 zx swap it and rebulid the zx's motor and drive the maxi pad or gut the pad fpr parts again

or if its complete crap...walk

I read "maxipad" WAY too many times for one post. How about naming the car something less "14 year old-ish"? Maybe...

"Vin Diesel Maximus"

Dude there is like a pretty clean '87 Maxima down the street from my house at a used car lot. Would that have a diesel engine in it? And no, I do not want to buy it. lol

I don't think the diesel head is compatible with gasoline L28s. The only thing useful is the crank from the LD28. As for the L24e from the Maxima, I remember a guy telling me that the head is good for increasing the compression ratio and is fine for a street Z. Since my Z is turbo, I didn't ask for specifics from him. One plus about the diesel Maxima is it's a front sump design so dropping in an RB motor is a little easier than the rear sump Z cars.

no i know the LD28 head isnt compatable and it would be solely for the crank and pan and then a spare block to make into what ever...thinking furniture.

but i was wondering about the L24e heads from the mid 80's, the last year the maxima was straight 6 was 84 in the states, 300ZX had come out about that time with a V6 and P90/P90a heads were a bit more abundant then than earlier arround 81/82.

it just made me think...huh they are no longer going to use this engine for export, mabe not for any thing else at all, i wonder if they are trying to use up old stock and stick those good heads on something just so they didnt sit arround and cost them money as old stock.

back then not alot of people thought ahead and went "huh this is probably going to be the best revision mabe we should keep them and charge a premium" its always after the fact that over time people figure it out

although there might be a change in plans but that for another post
