ok I cant find this sensor... do yall know?

the coolent temp sensor with the huge bolt on my 280z died,
thus causing the motor to run extremly rich,
I went to autozone, advance auto, and an independent auto store in my town
all of them gave me the wrong sensor,
I also checked rock auto but nothing... any idea where to get it?

I think I found it, would it be a Water Temperature Sensor, 75-79 Z/ZX?
found on the Z store
it doesnt have a picture so I dont know for sure

Same thing as the CHTS... which you CAN one at your local parts store, if you tell them the right item.

theres only 2 sensors for the coolant in a S30 as far as i know one for the warm up procedure the other for the temp gauge i do believe and they are all up by the thermostat neck. it wont make the car run richer unless the secondary injector in the TB is staying activated.... i cant think of the proper term for what it is but yeah you can just unplug it, temperature doesn't effect anything else on the S30 other than those things im fairly sure

well there are three sensors on the front of the motor in the same general area, I'll be up there tomorrow to figure it out some more,
I have had two people tell me the same thing about the same sensor, so my money is on the sensor

well really, the S30 system is very simple and how do you know its running so rich out of curiosity? there's not many sensors on the S30 so if its running REALLY rich it might be more than just a bum temp sensor though you should replace it anyways obviously.

well gas is coming out the tail pipe, it burned 1/2 tank in under 6 miles, and the spark plugs have gas on them, it's firing on less then 6 by far, I checked each plug (which are brand new) for spark,
also I have a trusted opinion of a master michanic,

from what I understand that sensor detects the temp of the engine via coolent, when it's cold it tells the computer to run rich to get the motor warmed up, I beleive acting like a choke
so the sensor is dead and the computer thinks the motor is very cold all the time so it runs very rich all the time

it doesn't effect the normal injectors there's a secondary injector in the manifold itself that is used during warmup. also, it doesn't make it run THAT rich so if theres gas coming out of the tailpipe you got something else up, also half a tank in 6 miles, i don't think either of those two are even possible and the engine still runs.

^^^ Anything is possible, but I agree... engines can only run SO rich. Dumping raw fuel out the tailpipe would be hard to do and keep it running.

I could keep it up to 35 mph, studdering like hell, but when at full throttle at around 4000 rpm it would take off like usual, but only at full throttle and only at that high rpm,
after a while it wouldnt start anymore, because of all the gas
