Need help with rear clunk

Need help with CLUNK from rear area. My car is at the shop and my mechanic says he still hears a clunk in the rear somewhere when shifting gears.
We have replaced the moustache bar bushings, diff mount, control arm bushings, struts and springs. He said the U-joints feel good and tight. The clunk
is pretty loud so if not U-joints could it be rear diff lash? If so, need another diff? Any way to check without replacing it or other parts? Need help soon
as I can’t just leave it at the shop (small shop with no extra room). Could a bad half-shaft cause the clunk? Thanks ........1975 280Z 150,000 miles.

The rear end clunk is almost always the diff bushing or u-joint(s). Just because a u-joint feels tight by hand doesn't mean it can't clunk with 2k lbs force on it. There are 6 u-joints total... 2 for each half shaft, and 2 in the drive shaft.

Driveshaft replacement needed?

1975 280Z coupe, need to replace U-joints but mechanic says they are not replaceable on the driveshaft. So you have to buy a driveshaft? Where do you find a good driveshaft? This seems really stupid that you have to buy a complete assembly? Anyone have any help here? Car is in the shop and not sure what I should do. Thanks...
