How much is this Z worth?

Found this 280Z on Ebay and so far the top bid is $455 (auction ends tomorrow). Theres some surface rust obviously but I emailed the owner and he said there is no rust on the frame rails and only a small amount on the drivers side floor panel.

Mechanically it looks like everything is there and the interior looks decent except the usual ripped seats and cracked dash.

I'm thinkin this car might be worth it for under $1,000. And shipping would be cheap since its right here in Illinois.

But then again the last thing I need is another Z to take up all my money.

....but more Zs is always better! (or not?)

Hey snw, thanks for the offer. Its over there by Rockford which might still be quite a drive for you....but if you want to I'd pay ya for gas. The auction ends like 11 o'clock tomorrow night. I just wonder if the car would be road worthy to drive from there to Springfield.

Snw, the cars at 10872 Lindenwood, Chana, IL

Heres a mapquest from lemont to there:
http://www.mapquest.com/directions/m...684&panelbtn=2

Sounded like an old guy...says he's retired and just wants to get rid of the car. I told him you might stop by, he said no problem.

Hey if you can't make it...no problem...there will be others. Besides if it don't get over $500, might go ahead and bid anyway....

I don't blame ya snw! Thats like 80 miles. Anyway he said the car won't start and when I asked why he acted like he didn't know...not a good sign. But then if I can get it for $500....who knows....

Snw, sounds like you want another toy yourself! Yeah I don't know what I'm gonna do yet. Maybe wait until tomorrow see what the bids are up to...as long as there is no major rust damage underneath...might be worthwhile. Not every day theres a S30 for sale around here....

i dont want another toy, unless its a bike. i want to finish my current toy. got my N42 mani coming finally, and my electric fan. then im gonna get my IC piping made up and exhaust once i fix my ign. problem and start my MSII build with EDIS. i just enjoy cars, and if you got it, and were going to be up this way would be cool to stop on by even if its on a trailer check it out with my dad cause he is a wiz with the 280Z's. you could see his too, started out looking like that one you want. and now it looks like this 2 years later:

all the work done by only me and him. the interior is a little different now though its been all redone again.

Well I ended up not bidding on this Z. The reason being I think my 240 has some more issues...which means more $$$. She was grinding big time when I shifted into reverse....and now its difficult to shift in any gear at all- near impossible. When the car is just sitting there and not running, you can shift to any gear no problem...but when the car is running thats when the problems start. That makes believe its not the tranny, but clutch issues?

Anyway, I believe the top bid on this 280 was like $685. Providing the underneath is not a total mess, I think someone got a pretty good deal....

some on eprobably did you quiter. lol. umm try bleeding the system and make sure you have plenty of fluid in teh master. if it grinds in reverse it means the clutch isnt being depressed all the way. most likely a simple a inexpensive fix. enjoy you quiting bastard.

It's probably you clutch slave cyclinder. Have someone depress the pedal while you check for movement of the clutch fork. Your clutch is not disengaging.
