Drag Tire Set Up

Hey i have a 1978 280z and i have a problem i have been working with my tire guy in my town and we cant find any dot drag tires. we looked at bigger rims but couldnt find the tires to fit it. However we did find full slicks but the class i am in doesnt allow them. So if any one knows of a set up that will fit my car let me know. Thanks.

Your "tire guy" isn't much of a tire guy.

Like the others mentioned, try searching for the size you want on www.tirerack.com, they even have a search filter just for DOT/Competition tires. You'll probably have to plus size away from the original 14s. It's hard to find anything in 195/70-14 anymore in terms of performance, higher speed rating, etc. Discount Tire has a good online tool, too, and there are probably others.

One potential plus size is 225/55-15. The Hoosier R6 came up for that. Anyway, find what you like off there and then either order it online, or print it out and take it to your local tire guy / dealer / vendor and say, "Get me these."

good luck,
Dave
