1976 260z restore/mod/rebuild

Hello, new z owner. Recently purchased a Z and have plenty of items that need a bit of TLC.

1:First issue that I have noticed, with gas tank filled up, the rear fuel pump was dripping fuel. It is a cheap AA parts mr. gasket 12v micro electric pump. Leak was coming from the internal connection of the pump not the hoses to it. I plan to buy a new pump to replace it. I believe I will need to drain the tank before replacing the pump?

Purchased a Carter electric fuel pump to replace the crap mr gasket. Should be on hopefully this week.

2: Leaking a bit of oil from somewhere in the bay. I am picking up another set of jackstands today to get the car way up. Will have to take some more pictures of the car and get this thread going.

3: Fuel gauge does not seem to go all the way up with a full tank. Only about 2/3.

4: dash needs to be pulled to reconnect tach.

Manual is on the way to have a physical guide in hand for weekend warrioring.

Welcome to ZDriver!

Was the car sitting for a long time (more than 2yrs)?

Yes, drain the fuel... there's a plug at the bottom of the tank making it pretty easy (minus changing full buckets ). Might as well drop the tank and check the sending unit at the same time.

You sure the tach needs to be reconnected at the dash? Maybe just the negative coil signal wire isn't hooked up?

EDIT...

Oh, and you can download the FSM for free from www.xenons30.com/reference
