74 260z engine rebuild
I was wondering on what I can expect to pay to rebuild my 74 260Z w/ a L26 w/4spd, dual webers(kind unknown). I would like to bore it out and add a perfomance cam, as well as a full exhaust system. I was also wondering how long it would take, I would like it done ASAP. Any suggestions and info is greatly appreciated.

Re: 74 260z engine rebuild
For a regular rebuild you can expect to pay $2500 - $3000 depending on what shop you take it to. For what you would like to do probably $4000 - $5000 depending on the parts you use and other details. I would find a local machine shop and start asking questions there. If you are in the Bay Area I heard that Scott's Performance (Scottie's Performance) in Santa Clara is a good place to go.
I have a motor for a 72 Toyota Landcruiser that I'm having rebuilt with a Clifford Performance cam. I couldn't find any machine shops locally that I liked or would touch it. Finally found one in Seattle that was recommended by a friend. I've been told by the shop that it will cost somewhere around $4000 depending on how much work they have to do on after its torn down. Hopefully your motor is still in good shape. If it has a warped head or cracks anywhere on the block that need to be repaired expect to pay more. If you want to put any of the heat resistant coatings on the parts get ready to pay even more.
I guess you should really decide what you want to do with the car and how you are going to drive it. Then talk to the machine shop and get their advice on how to proceed with the rebuild.
Hope this helps.
