clutch problem

hey everyone, im having trouble with my 71 :/

i have a brand new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder on the car, but cant seem to get any pressure outve the system.

i bled new fluid through it and pumped it alot, and im pretty sure ive gotten all the air outve it.. i just cant get the slave to actuate the pushplate whatsoever.

the previous owner put the new master on about 23 years ago and put fluid into it. but like i said, since then, ive put new fluid and bled it, plus new slave..
im thinking maybe the master went bad?

anyway it dont seem to work.. this is the only thing holding me back for first test drive.

Did you bleed the master?

It's a really simple system, so when the slave won't move, you know you still need to bleed / re-bleed the system. Bleed the master, then open the slave and pump until a clear stream, then close, pump, hold, open, close. Much easier with two people.

I'd have to say that 23 years ago doesn't sound "New" to me. The master could need to be replaced.

still have no clutch pressure, i dont think i did the 2person bleed part correctly yet however. wasnt patient enough with it and we worked on the engine more instead today..runs good.

another thing im having trouble figuring out is this clutch pushplate where the slave cylinder rod bumps up and pushes the plate.. my plate has a hole in it , the rod just passes through and just floats there.. without pushing the plate.. is the hole in the plate factory, or am i missing parts or?

anyways, i put a bolt through with a flat head on it where it makes the entire pushplate flat and the slave cylinder rod just bumps it.

Are you talking about the fork? It should not have a hole in it...

new master comes in tommorrow.. i tried the pump n hold, open/ shut bleeder, repeat process.. still nothing.. how long does that process take on average? i only did it about 8 times

another thing is if that plate in the picture is what the slave cylinder is suppose to push, im officially scared cuz mine is very different and i cant push it by hand.
i hope i dont have to take all of it apart, but i will if i have to.

if you have the old type clutch fork with the hole in it.. your going to need the slave with the threaded end that has that tappered end on it..

hope to take a test ride soon.
